More than 60 teachers and coaches signed up for this SPF Chess Coach Certification Course. Each participant received a Susan Polgar Chess Kit which includes: a chess set, chess board, demo board, animated DVD, coaching course curriculum, digital chess clock, other gifts, chess bracelets, chess post cards, etc.

In addition to the official course certificate, each teacher also receives official credits! We are working hard to put chess as part of the curriculum in every school in Brownsville. There will be a Chess Coaches Certification Course for all Chess team coaches on Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, at the Central Middle School Training Center / Cafeteria, Brownsville, Texas.

This course will personally be conducted by GM Susan Polgar.

The course will focus on:

* How to introduce chess to the beginner players, especially children
* The order and method to introduce each chess piece to make it easier to understand
* How to simplify checkmating and winning techniques
* How to introduce simple but important chess tactical motifs
* How to motivate the children to play chess, especially girls
* How chess can help children in school and in life
* How teachers can incorporate chess into other classes
* The importance of being a good sport in chess
* The importance of clock and time-management in chess
* Exclusive pattern recognition in chess and beyond
